Business Rates
Every property in the UK is subject to rates, a kind of council tax, in order to pay for municipal services such as refuse collection, street lighting and so on.

Negotiating Favourable Business Rates and Launching Appeals:
Every UK Business or occupier of Commercial Premises gets taxed by the Local Council, and these taxes are commonly refered to as the 'Business Rates'. Currently, UK Business Rates (and other Council Taxes) are based on the PROPERTY VALUE. These rates can vary very considerably from authority to authority, because of both real property prices in the areas, as well as the skill and experience (or lack thereof) of the Council Assessment Team in guessing the actual property values in a particular area.
Consequently, it often happens that the Local Authority sends a rates demand based on an 'Estimate' of a property value, rather than an actual figure based on an accurate valuation. These estimates can often be wildly optimistic, and it is nearly always possible to contest and reduce the amount demanded.
We have considerable, practical experience in this area, and can negotiate on our clients' behalf, handling all the forms, and negotiating with the Valuation Officers responsible for sending out Rates Demands.
