Originally developed in Georgian times, the area is located to the east of Tottenham Court Road and runs across to Grays Inn Road.

Bloomsbury provides a less expensive office location to neighbouring Fitzrovia and is popular with companies requiring easy access to both the West End and The City.

The area is home to The British Museum as well as numerous colleges and universities such as the University of London, University College (the Godless College in Gower Street) and many other seats of learning connected with Medicine, Art, Engineering, Architecture and Law.

Bloomsbury has an abundance of well used public squares, most famous being Bloomsbury Square, Russell Square and Bedford Square. These open spaces provide a welcome refuge from the stresses for London's office workers, even if they only walk through on the way to a meeting.

With Tottenham Court Road and Goodge Street/Warren Street underground stations to the south and west, and Euston/Kings Cross mainline stations to the north/north-east, the area has good public transport links.

Potental office occupiers can pick from both modern office buildings and converted Georgian and Victorian houses to run their businesses from. The rental values for Bloomsbury are lower than the areas to the east and south, which adds to its popularity, being as it is a relatively quiet and cultural part of London in which to work.
